29-year-old Woman Gang-raped by 6 Men In Lagos, Police Arrest 2 Suspects
Two individuals, Joy Chigozie and Musa Salihu, have been apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command in connection with a gang rape incident that occurred on Airport Road, in the Kirikiri area of the state.
According to PUNCH Metro, the incident took place on a Sunday at around 6 p.m., but it was not reported until the following Monday at approximately 10:30 p.m. at the Kirikiri Police Station.
The 29-year-old victim was enticed by one of the alleged gang rape suspects, who is currently at large, to his supposed aunt’s shop. There, she was coerced into consuming an alcoholic substance until she became intoxicated.
Further information suggests that the man, with the assistance of his purported aunt, took her to a room where he and five other men forcibly engaged in sexual intercourse with her one after another. They blindfolded her and threatened to harm her if she did not comply with their demands.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, informed our correspondent that the 56-year-old Chigozie and one of the rapists had been arrested and were presently undergoing interrogation.
Hundeyin stated, “On Monday, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a 28-year-old woman named Rosemary reported to the Airport Road Kirikiri Station that on October 29, 2023, around 4 p.m., she encountered a man (now at large) who took her to a kiosk to purchase Schnapp drink. The man introduced a 56-year-old woman to her as his sister. She mentioned that the woman and her brother, while offering her Indian hemp with a smile, caused her to become inebriated. The man then conspired with the woman to take her to a location where she encountered five other men. They threatened her and blindfolded her with a cloth.
“We were further informed that they engaged in sexual intercourse with her consecutively.”
Hundeyin revealed that police detectives were dispatched to the kiosk’s location, and the woman was apprehended. Her kiosk was searched, but nothing incriminating was discovered.
“Once the case was reported, police detectives and the Family Support Unit took swift action. The aforementioned woman was detained, and her kiosk was searched, yielding no incriminating evidence.
“However, one of the main suspects, 26-year-old Musa Salihu, was apprehended at the crime scene.”
According to the Lagos PPRO, the survivor will be transported to Mirabel Hospital in Ikeja for medical tests, and the case will be transferred to the Gender Section in Ikeja for a thorough investigation. “The survivor will be taken to Mirabel Hospital in Ikeja.
