Suspected Fualni Herdsmen Invade Benue Community, Kill 7 People Including 3 Cousins of the State Police Command’s PRO

In a devastating turn of events, seven lives were tragically cut short in an attack believed to have been carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen. Among the victims were three cousins of the State Police Command’s Spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene. The assault unfolded in Tse Gamber in Sengev and Nagi, Mbachohon Council wards, situated within the Gwer West local government area of Benue State.

Local residents recounted a harrowing tale of swift and coordinated violence, as herdsmen descended upon their communities in a calculated onslaught that took place on a fateful Sunday. An anonymous native of the area disclosed, “Four individuals lost their lives in the attack at Tse Gamber in Sengev Council ward, while another three perished at Camp Nagi in Mbachohon Council ward, positioned along the Naka-Agagbe road.”

In the wake of the brutality, numerous individuals were left injured and traumatized, further deepening the anguish that has gripped these beleaguered communities.

Confirming the attack, the Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, herself bearing the weight of personal loss, said, “That is my village; three of my cousins were killed, and that is the total number.” The tragedy serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing security challenges facing the region, with local residents left to grapple with the ever-present specter of violence and loss.
