42-year-old Man Arrested In Rivers State For Raping His 13-year-old House Maid
The Rivers State Police Command has reported the apprehension of a 42-year-old man, identified as Kolowale, on charges of alleged sexual assault against his 13-year-old female house help. The incident unfolded on Ejekwu Street in Eneka, within the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
According to information gathered by PUNCH Metro, the arrest transpired following a complaint lodged by concerned neighbors, to whom the teenage girl had turned after the alleged defilement. The suspect, a father of three and a rig worker, was detained by officials associated with the police command’s Human Rights Desk.
An anonymous source divulged that the accused, who is married with a family of three, had been engaging in inappropriate relations with the young girl during his visits home, unbeknownst to his wife. The source disclosed, “The man is married with three children and the girl has been staying with them. He is a rig worker and not usually around. He comes on break and goes back to work where he spends weeks.”
The source went on to explain that whenever the suspect was in town and his wife was absent, he allegedly took advantage of the 13-year-old house help. The situation came to light when the girl refused his advances, escaped the premises, and confided in nearby residents about her ordeal.
Subsequently, the concerned neighbors took the matter to the State Ministry of Justice, which then alerted the police’s Human Rights Desk situated at the police headquarters on Moscow Road. After receiving the report, law enforcement officers commenced monitoring the suspect’s movements.
Upon receiving information that the man had returned on a particular Sunday, the police acted swiftly and took him into custody. Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police and the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the incident and the subsequent arrest. She stated, “Yes, I can confirm the incident. The suspect has been arrested and he is in our custody. An investigation is ongoing.”
