The university’s administration, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Charles Esimone, has officially removed the implicated lecturers from their respective official roles within the institution.The official announcement came via a press statement issued on Friday by Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Special Adviser on Public Relations and Special Duties to Vice Chancellor Esimone. While the statement refrained from disclosing the identities of the accused individuals, it revealed that an ongoing investigation is underway concerning alleged incidents of sexual harassment involving certain lecturers.Dr. Ojukwu’s statement clarified, “It is important to state that there was no protest of any sort in the university.” He further elaborated that the Vice Chancellor, in light of the investigation, promptly took action by removing the implicated lecturers from their official positions. Additionally, these individuals received stern warning letters within their respective departments.Regrettably, the students who raised allegations of sexual harassment did not come forward to provide testimony before the investigation panel. Despite this, Vice Chancellor Esimone convened a meeting with the affected departments, wherein he conveyed the university’s dissatisfaction with the situation.
