Professor Emmanuel Osodeke has been re-elected unopposed as the National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) for another two-year term. The election took place during the union’s 22nd National Delegates Conference, held at the University of Jos in Plateau State from May 19 to 21, 2023. Alongside Professor Osodeke, Chris Piwuna was also re-elected as Vice President. The conference saw the re-election of several other national officers, including Prof. Siji Sowande as Treasurer, Prof. Ade Adejumo as Financial Secretary, Dr Austen Sado as Investment Secretary, Dr Adamu Babayo as Internal Auditor, and Dr Aisha Bawa as the new Welfare Secretary, replacing Dr Stella-Maris Okey. Professor Osodeke expressed satisfaction with the conference’s outcome and stated that a formal statement would be issued upon their return to Abuja.
