A pregnant woman, Eucheria Ndigwe, aged 30, has been taken into custody by the Lagos State Police Command following an alleged stabbing incident involving her teenage maid, Chinaze Aneme, in Lagos. The altercation arose from the maid’s failure to wash Ndigwe’s bag. The arrest was prompted by a video that went viral over the weekend, capturing the distressed state of the maid, which was recorded by a concerned neighbor.Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, confirmed the arrest through a Twitter message posted on his account, @BenHundeyin, on Sunday. Hundeyin revealed that Ndigwe, who is pregnant, has been relocated to the command’s gender unit, which provides specialized medical care, while the investigation is underway. Meanwhile, Aneme, the victim, is receiving medical attention at a police hospital.In his tweet, Hundeyin wrote, “Yesterday, we arrested the suspect, Eucheria Ndigwe, aged 30. Due to her advanced pregnancy, she has been transferred to our recently-upgraded gender unit in collaboration with @Lagosdsva, where she will receive proper medical care as the investigation progresses. The survivor is currently receiving appropriate medical attention at the police facility in Ikeja. @LagosPoliceNG remains dedicated to combating domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence throughout the state.”The viral video, which our correspondent viewed on Saturday, featured a concerned neighbor questioning the maid about the cause of her distress that morning. Aneme, who identified herself as Chinaza Aneme from Anambra State, responded to the neighbor’s inquiries by stating, “My auntie stabbed me with a knife because I didn’t wash her bag.” The neighbor expressed shock at the woman and her husband’s actions, describing them as “appalling.”
