NDLEA Seizes 21,800 Tramadol Tablets and Other Drugs in Adamawa and Edo states
On Sunday, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) issued a statement announcing the seizure of a total of 21,800 tablets of tramadol in the Nigerian states of Adamawa and Edo. According to the agency’s spokesperson, Mr. Femi Babafemi, the arrest of 39-year-old Sahabi Mohammed in Adamawa led to the discovery of 8,800 satchets of tramadol tablets, as well as N60,000 in counterfeit notes. Additionally, a suspect named Bala Umar was arrested in Adamawa, while 2.850kg cannabis sativa and 825 liters of formalin, known as ‘Suck and Die’, were intercepted in Numan Local Government Area.In Edo, a Toyota Previa bus carrying 13,000 pills of tramadol and diazepam was intercepted along Ewohimi road en route to Ekiti state. The driver of the vehicle, Femi Oluwadar, was taken into custody on Friday. Similarly, a suspect named Ahmed Rafi’u was apprehended in Kogi with 84 blocks of compressed cannabis weighing 43.200kg, while 381.1kg of the same substance was seized from three suspects – Innocent Saturday, Sunday Asuquo, and Akpan Asukuma – traveling in a Sienna bus in Anambra. The arrests were made by a combined patrol team of NDLEA operatives and other security agencies at Nnobi in Anambra.
