Nigerian Student Brutally Slain by Chinese Group in Philippines Sparks International Outcry for Justice
In a deeply disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the international community, a Nigerian student, known only by the name Ikem, met a tragic and brutal end at the hands of a group of Chinese individuals in the Republic of the Philippines.
The distressing news was brought to light by a close associate of the victim, Michael Ojuola, who took to social media on Sunday to share the harrowing details of the incident. Ojuola’s post stated, “A friend of mine, a Nigerian Medical Student named Ikem, studying in the Republic of the Philippines, was brutally murdered by a group of Chinese. They tied his hands, covered and gagged his mouth, subjecting him to a relentless and savage beating until his life slipped away. This heinous act must not be allowed to fade into obscurity, regardless of the diplomatic relationship between the Philippines and China. This is a deeply inhumane and barbaric act that leaves me unable to think clearly, especially in light of the horrific videos I’ve received from the hospital.”
Expressing his profound distress and calling for action, Ojuola appealed to the Chairperson of the Nigerians In Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and other concerned stakeholders to urgently address this grievous situation. The tragic loss of Ikem underscores the pressing need for justice and a thorough investigation into this appalling incident, which has left a scar on the conscience of nations.
