Umahi Commends Governor Mbah for Ending Sit-at-Home Order in Enugu
Minister of Works, Mr. David Umahi, has expressed his gratitude to Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for bringing an end to the enforcement of the sit-at-home order within the state. Mr. Umahi, who formerly served as the governor of Ebonyi State and currently chairs the South-East Governors’ Forum, conveyed his sentiments while inspecting a collapsed bridge along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, as reported by his media officer on Monday.
Umahi hailed the cessation of the sit-at-home order in Enugu as a significant stride forward for the region. He lauded Governor Mbah, saying, “Let me thank you for being able to courageously stop sitting at home in Enugu State. It is a major thing you have done for the Igbo. It is a major thing you have done for the country.”
Furthermore, Umahi extended his congratulations to Governor Mbah for his triumph at the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. He urged the opposition in the state to desist from futile attempts to challenge Mbah’s legitimate and popular mandate, emphasizing that the choice of leadership transcends political affiliations.
The minister, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress, stressed that the essence lies in the quality of leadership chosen by the people of Enugu. He commended Governor Mbah’s initiative to commence the reconstruction and dualisation of the Enugu-Abakaliki federal road up to the Ebonyi boundary, highlighting it as a testament to people-driven governance by a private sector professional.
He stated, “I am happy that you came from the private sector. There is a very serious high hope by the steps you have rolled out. They are in tandem with Mr. President’s steps, and I pledge to support him very seriously and I also pledge to support you. There must be a change. We must reset the country.”
Umahi concluded by publicly affirming his support for Governor Mbah, declaring that those attempting to obstruct his path should acknowledge the divine nature of his mandate. He emphasized Governor Mbah’s successful background in the private sector and predicted that his governance would reflect his prior achievements. Lastly, he underscored the significance of Enugu State as a pride of the South-East and East Central State.
