Huge Fire Destroys Residential Building in Anambra State
In a swift response to a distress call on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, the Anambra State Fire Service successfully extinguished a fire that ravaged a five-bedroom duplex located at No. 10, Uche Mmaduabuchi Agu-Aba layout, adjacent to Mopol Base, Agu Awka. The incident, ignited by a power surge, resulted in the complete destruction of one of the rooms within the residence, leading to substantial property damage.
State Fire Chief Engr. Martin Agbili confirmed the cause of the fire and assured that no lives were lost during the incident. The prompt and efficient response of the state’s firefighters prevented the flames from engulfing neighboring rooms and nearby structures.
“At about 7:56 PM on Wednesday, our fire service received the distress call and immediately dispatched our firefighting team and equipment to the scene,” stated Agbili. “They valiantly fought the fire, gaining control and ultimately extinguishing it. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties.”
The fire judge overseeing the operation emphasized that despite the room’s complete destruction, the collective efforts of the firefighters saved the remaining portions of the five-bedroom duplex and nearby structures from the blaze. The firefighters successfully withdrew from the scene at approximately 9:57 PM, marking the conclusion of their dedicated efforts in containing the fire.
