Unidentified Gunmen Execute Wife in Husband’s Presence in Taraba State
In a harrowing incident that unfolded on Sunday, a quiet neighborhood in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, was thrust into the spotlight as a gang of assailants wreaked havoc on the lives of an innocent couple. The unfortunate episode, which took place in the Mile 6 area of Jalingo metropolis, resulted in the tragic loss of a housewife and inflicted serious injuries upon her husband.
SP Usman Abdullahi, the articulate spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, conveyed the grim details of the incident during a telephone conversation with Daily Trust.
According to Abdullahi, the assailants brazenly invaded the residence of Mr. Balanko Gamalia, where they unleashed a hail of bullets upon the unsuspecting couple. Their sinister motive appeared to be an abduction, but their malevolent intent swiftly spiraled into tragedy. The wife succumbed to her injuries on the spot, leaving a void of grief and sorrow.
The wounded husband, Mr. Gamalia, now battles for his life within the confines of a local hospital in Jalingo, a stark reminder of the relentless violence that has gripped certain regions of the state.
Abdullahi further divulged that in the wake of this heinous act, two additional individuals, including a woman, were forcibly taken from the Gamalia household. As the investigation unfolds, the Taraba State Police have embarked on a determined pursuit of the kidnappers, vowing to bring them to justice.
In an impassioned plea to the public, Abdullahi beseeched citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, emphasizing the invaluable role of community involvement in the relentless fight against criminal elements that threaten society.
This heart-wrenching incident, which bears the hallmark of a disturbing trend, echoes the recent attack on Mr. Boyi Manja, the Caretaker Committee chairman of Takum Local Government Area in Taraba State. In that horrifying episode, gunmen abducted Mr. Manja after fatally shooting his orderly. Thankfully, Mr. Manja was eventually released from captivity on Thursday, May 11, 2023, as reported by PUNCH.
The violence that continues to plague Taraba State serves as a stark reminder of the pressing need for enhanced security measures and a united front against the scourge of criminality. As investigations into these incidents persist, the community remains on edge, yearning for a return to peace and security.
