In a tragic incident unfolding in Rumuaghaolu, Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, a young man identified as Ikechi unleashed a violent act that resulted in the untimely demise of his father. The unfortunate episode transpired after Ikechi’s plea for financial assistance from his father met with refusal.

Sources reveal that the young man, his request for an undisclosed sum of money denied, succumbed to a surge of uncontrollable anger. Eyewitnesses present at the scene recount that the distressing incident unfolded on a fateful Thursday afternoon. In a fit of rage, Ikechi seized a pestle and brutally struck his father’s head, causing immediate and fatal harm.

One eyewitness described the sequence of events, stating, “He was enraged over the deceased’s refusal to give him money yesterday at Road 9, Rumuagholu, Port Harcourt. The man was suspected to be on drugs. He was asking his dad for money, and he refused to give him yesterday. He carried a pestle and hit him.”

In the aftermath of the heinous act, Ikechi attempted to flee the scene. However, alert neighbors quickly raised an alarm, prompting concerned citizens to apprehend the perpetrator.

Upon reaching out to the State Police Command, spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident’s veracity and reported that Ikechi had been taken into custody.
