43-year old Man Arrested for Trying to Break into Lagos Bank
In a recent incident that unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, a 43-year-old man identified as Azeez Isa found himself in police custody after attempting to rob a modern-era bank situated opposite the affluent Maplewood Estate in the Oko Oba vicinity of Lagos State.
Reports obtained by PUNCH Metro reveal that the audacious suspect was apprehended with a sledgehammer in his possession, which he employed to forcefully breach the bank’s secure entrance.
According to an anonymous police source, the unsettling incident began when the vigilant security personnel assigned to the bank’s protection sensed the resounding thuds of an object striking against the entrance door in the wee hours of the morning. Alarmed by this ominous noise, they diligently traced its source to find Mr. Isa relentlessly hammering away at the formidable security barrier. Astonishingly, he appeared undeterred by the possibility of drawing attention to his illegal activities.
In the initial moments, the security guards were gripped with fear, as they couldn’t ascertain whether the perpetrator was acting alone or accompanied by accomplices. Swift action was imperative, and it was precisely at this juncture that the Lagos State Police were alerted.
Confirming the incident, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, disclosed, “We received a distress call at approximately 4.20 am, prompting an immediate response from our dedicated patrol team. The suspect was taken into custody while persistently attempting to breach the bank’s door. He is currently under police custody and is undergoing intensive interrogation.”
