In a tragic turn of events, a yet-to-be-identified suspected armed robber met his demise while trying to carry out a robbery on a resident known simply as Victor in Olugboso, located within the Agege vicinity of Lagos State.According to information gathered by PUNCH Metro, the incident unfolded on August 20th when the suspect forcefully entered Victor’s apartment at the stroke of midnight, wielding what appeared to be a toy gun, in a bid to steal his valuable possessions.Recognizing the faux nature of the weapon, Victor mustered courage and confronted the assailant head-on, leading to a heated physical altercation. In the midst of the struggle, the criminal brandished a pair of scissors he had concealed in his pocket, viciously stabbing Victor.The commotion from the struggle captured the attention of fellow tenants within the vicinity, prompting them to rush to the scene in a bid to intervene.A resident, who chose to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the incident, recounted the sequence of events, stating, “The incident transpired around 1:30 am, resonating with the sounds of a fierce struggle. The occupants of the building traced the source of the clamor to Victor’s abode, swiftly stepping in to rescue him. Tragically, he had already sustained grievous wounds, including stab wounds to his neck, chest, and portions of his face. Urgent action was taken to transport him to a nearby medical facility.”Upon witnessing the unfolding drama, other residents congregated and collectively subdued the suspect, subjecting him to an assault that rendered him incapacitated. Unfortunately, the intensity of the mob’s assault proved fatal, leading to the suspect’s untimely demise.The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, verified the incident, revealing, “The occurrence has been duly confirmed. Among the items recovered from the suspect were a pair of scissors and a toy gun. The deceased’s body has been conveyed to the morgue, while the victim was promptly transported to a medical center, where he is currently receiving treatment.
