Woman Burns Husband’s Worker with Hot Water, Mistaking Her for His Mistress
Esther Godwin, a 39-year-old food vendor, was apprehended by the Ondo State Police Command after being accused of pouring hot water on Endurance Samuel, a man she suspected of having an illicit affair with her husband. The incident unfolded in the town of Idanre, Idanre Local Government Area, and resulted in Samuel being rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.According to sources within the community, the confrontation occurred when Godwin invited Samuel to her shop under the pretext of collecting palm oil that her husband owed him. However, upon Samuel’s arrival, he was allegedly attacked with scalding hot water.In her defense, Samuel vehemently denied any romantic involvement with Godwin’s husband. Instead, she stated that she worked as a laborer on his farm, along with other farmers in the area. She recounted how she eagerly responded to Godwin’s call to collect the outstanding palm oil, only to fall victim to the alleged attack.Godwin’s husband, identified as Godwin, also refuted the claims of an extramarital affair, maintaining that Samuel was solely employed as a laborer on his farm. He asserted that he has been covering Samuel’s medical expenses since the unfortunate incident occurred.The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed that Esther Godwin has already been charged in court and is no longer in police custody. The legal proceedings will now determine the appropriate course of action regarding the alleged assault and its underlying circumstances.
