Ogun State Landlord Hacked To Death By Hoodlums Over Shawarma

In a shocking turn of events, Akinola Agbede, a landlord residing in the Ajuwon area of Akute, found himself at the mercy of hoodlums who allegedly took his life. The incident, which unfolded in the late hours of June 8, has left the community in a state of shock and mourning.According to reliable sources, the unfortunate incident occurred after Agbede reprimanded two individuals who were caught stealing shawarma from a nearby shop. Following their apprehension, the suspects were cautioned and subsequently released by community elders. However, it is alleged that they harbored deep resentment towards Agbede for his involvement in their punishment.Eyewitnesses reveal that prior to the attack, the suspects had brazenly threatened to harm Agbede, specifically vowing to sever the hand he had used to strike one of them during their public humiliation. The tension between the parties escalated when the suspects, alongside a group of accomplices, menaced Agbede with dangerous weapons, including broken bottles, in a display of intimidation. The fatal culmination of events transpired when the hoodlums, emboldened by their brewing animosity, stormed Agbede’s residence late at night. Unrelenting in their brutality, they mercilessly attacked him with a machete, leaving him mortally wounded. Shockingly, this horrifying act took place in the presence of Agbede’s wife, whose life has been irrevocably shattered by the traumatic ordeal.Law enforcement swiftly responded to the distress call, with officers from the Ajuwon Police Station promptly apprehending the assailants. The suspects, along with their accomplices, were subsequently taken into custody, offering a small measure of relief to the grieving community.Agbede’s tragic demise has left his family shattered and in disbelief. As they grapple with their profound loss, it is worth noting that he had been preparing for a journey abroad with his wife and children, having already sold his house to fund their future. The family had secured visas and had made substantial progress towards their goal, having received N10 million from the house sale, with an additional N1.5 million remaining. In the wake of this heinous crime, community members are demanding justice for Agbede and an end to the reign of terror imposed by these hoodlums. Reports indicate that the suspects have a notorious history of terrorizing residents and business owners in the area. Adding insult to injury, it is alleged that they brazenly committed another robbery following the assault on Agbede.Images captured at the crime scene show the lifeless body of Agbede lying on a hospital bed, bearing the marks of a brutal attack. The sight of bloodstains serves as a stark reminder of the tragedy that unfolded in his own home.Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the crime. The investigation has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, where the matter will be thoroughly examined. As the community mourns the loss of a beloved landlord, they eagerly await the day when justice will be served, and the sense of security and peace will be restored to their streets.
