Gunmen Storm Kogi Community, Abduct Three Family Members and Issue Terrifying Warning
Gunmen reportedly executed a brazen abduction in the peaceful Greenland community of the Ajaokuta Local Government Area in Kogi State on Monday evening. The incident, which occurred at approximately 9 pm, plunged residents into a state of confusion and fear.According to eyewitness accounts, the armed assailants, arriving in a Sienna vehicle, unleashed a hail of bullets as they invaded the community situated behind the 500 Housing Estate in Ganaja. Their primary target was believed to be a retired security officer, as they unleashed indiscriminate gunfire in their bid to carry out the kidnapping. Paul Atabor, the Chairman of the Greenland community, confirmed the harrowing incident during an interview with our correspondent on Wednesday. Atabor revealed that both the ‘C’ Division of the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services had been notified of the crime.Adding to the distressing situation, the community received an alarming notice from the suspected kidnappers on Wednesday morning. The letter, which was cited by our correspondent, contained a chilling message: “Greenland community, get ready for us, we are coming to get someone. “One of the family members of the abducted individuals disclosed to our correspondent that the kidnappers had contacted them, demanding a ransom. The exact amount requested remains undisclosed at this time.When approached for comment, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, acknowledged that the command headquarters had not yet been apprised of the incident. He assured our correspondent that he would provide updates as soon as he received detailed information from the Divisional Police Officer of the ‘C’ Division. However, as of press time on Wednesday, no further information had been relayed.
