Enugu State Government Sponsors 300 Christian for Pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan
On Tuesday, the Enugu State Government sponsored 300 Christians on a pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan. The group was addressed by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi before their departure from Akanu Ibiam International Airport. The governor encouraged the pilgrims to pray for the state and the incoming administration of Dr. Peter Mbah while in the Holy Land, and emphasized the importance of experiencing the teachings in the Bible during and after the life of Jesus Christ. Ugwuanyi praised his administration’s commitment to Enugu State’s well-being and stated that his administration had handed over the state to the hands of God since its inauguration in 2015. The governor also acknowledged that his administration had sponsored 300 pilgrims to Rome in October 2022, and another 300 to Israel and Jordan in December 2022. Ugwuanyi’s support of the pilgrimage has been widely recognized, as the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) awarded him the Best Pilgrimage Governor Award in December 2021. The NCPC Executive Secretary, Rev. Yakubu Pam, thanked the governor for his unwavering support of the religious exercise and praised the Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr. Nestor Ezeme, for his diligence and dedication to duty. The pilgrims were advised to act responsibly and avoid actions that could tarnish the image of the country or the state while in Israel and Jordan.
