Tanker Tragedy: 10 Perish in Fiery Crash in Jos Plateau state
In Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, a tragic incident occurred on Thursday as a tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) crashed, killing 10 people at the Bauchi Road junction. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Alfred Alabo, made this known in a statement released in Jos on the same day.
According to Alabo, the vehicle lost control, crashed, and immediately caught fire, resulting in the burning of three other cars and two tricycles at the scene. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Bartholomew Onyeka, directed the Angwan Rogo Divisional Police Officer and his team of detectives to quickly move to the accident site.
Upon arrival, the police discovered that ten people had been burnt beyond recognition, and their remains were deposited at Plateau Specialist Hospital, Jos. Alabo also revealed that efforts were being made to clear the roadblocks to restore the free flow of traffic, as well as identify the charred remains.
