Student Charged with Cheating for Allegedly Misusing Travel Funds
Donald Ojeifo, a 39-year-old student from Bassa village, Airport, Abuja, has been charged with criminal trespass, breach of trust, impersonation, and cheating. He allegedly collected N148,000 from a man on the pretext of procuring travel documents but converted the money for personal use and fled to an unknown destination. Ojeifo appeared before a Zuba Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecution counsel, James Idachaba, stated that the defendant’s actions contravene the provisions of sections 348, 312, 324 and 325 of the Penal Code. The Magistrate, Abdulaziz Ismail, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N200,000 and ordered one surety, a civil servant residing within the court’s jurisdiction, to produce means of identification. The case has been adjourned until May 17 for hearing.
